The Olympian Alliance Rules Empty
PostSubject: The Olympian Alliance Rules   The Olympian Alliance Rules Icon_minitimeMon Mar 23, 2009 11:10 pm

NOTE: These rules must be obeyed to by both OLY and OLYa.

Alliance Guidelines:

1. CORE VALUES

1.1. RESPECT THE GAME RULES

You should be respectful. Respect the game's rules and never use profanity or behave in a way that could be a liability to your Alliance. Please read ALL the Ikariam game rules and make sure you understand them, especially the rules about Bashing, Pushing, Multi-Accounting, and Spam. Don't manage to get banned from Ikariam, that would be sad.

1.2. DONATE TO YOUR ISLANDS

You should DONATE to your island's resource mine and sawmill on a regular basis. Even if you have donated a lot in the past, you shouldn't stall -- some of your neighbors might notice. And part of our reputation is about good relations with our island neighbors. We suggest a minimum of 2-5% of your daily building material (wood) production to each island resource.

1.3. TRADE HONESTLY

Always repay your debts, and always make sure you send your shipment when trading resources for resources. We want our traders to be honest and well organized. We don't want leechers and cheaters in our alliance. If you can't manage a list of open transactions, then use only the Trading Post deals.

1.4. RESPECT THE ALLIANCE TREATIES

Don't forget that you are your alliance's first-line ambassadors. Respect the alliances that have a Peace Treaty or a NAP (Non-Aggression Pact) with us. NEVER pillage an inactive that's a member of these alliances, except if you have communicated with their diplomat and got an authorization. You can pillage other inactives freely, though.

1.5. RESPECT THE OTHERS, AND BE RESPECTED

Ikariam is a game, and you should always keep that in mind -- it's about having fun. If somebody harasses you, sends you real-life threats, or uses foul language, you should report that behavior. First to any alliance top officer (Leader, General, Diplomat, Interior Minister) to try to sort things out. Then to an Ikariam Game Operator if the behavior was truly unacceptable and you are not happy with the outcome. Respect also works the other way around. If you are not respectful, you could be kicked out of our alliance or even lose your account.

1.6 LOYALTY POLICY

You MUST stay loyal to The Olympian Alliance. This is VERY important. If you break This Loyalty Policy without explicit permission from the Leader, you will become a cow and an enemy of OLY.

2. TEAMWORK

2.1. HELPING YOUR TEAMMATES - DEFENSE

When an alliance member is under attack or when help is requested, and you are within a 5-island radius, you MUST prepare for immediate military ACTION, and contact whoever is making the request, to get a military assignment. We're in a permanent state of military alert, as Ikariam is also a war game. We might ask you to send ships or even ground troops, so be ready. Next time, YOU could be the one requesting help.

2.2. HELPING YOUR TEAMMATES - RECOVERY

When an alliance member is under attack or when help is requested, and you are further than 5 islands away, you SHOULD contact whoever is making the request to check if resources are needed. For example, you could be asked to send a fleet to protect a town while its defenses are being rebuilt. Or a member could ask for your available sulfur for immediate trade against another resource.

2.3. HELPING YOUR TEAMMATES - COACHING

Once you reach 100,000 points, we expect you to know Ikariam pretty well and with your in-game experience, you should try to help other players actively, and perhaps share some of your resources. Involvement is never mandatory, but that's how you can make people happy while contributing to the alliance's overall success.

2.4. KEEP YOUR TEAMMATES INFORMED

If you are in a specific situation such as on vacation, banned or if you're about to quit the team, PLEASE leave a message in the Olympian Forum. If you have been banned, we can perhaps help you in regaining access to your account. We've been there before.

2.5. REGISTER TO THE ALLIANCE FORUM (If you are reading this, then you can obviously skip this part.)

Our Alliance Forum is located HERE. You should register to this forum, because we don't always send all the important information through in-game messaging. The link can also be found at the end of these rules.

3. GROWTH

3.1. SHOW SOME INITIAL INTEREST

If you join the alliance with less than 10,000 points, we expect you to reach this mark within the first month. Otherwise we will consider that you are not putting the minimal amount of effort into the game. After you reach that mark, we'll let you grow at your own rate... no pressure.

3.2. KEEP YOUR TOWNS ALIVE

While we won't impose any play schedule on our members, we expect you to LOG IN often enough to keep your towns healthy. If you plan to leave for a few days, please use the Vacation Mode (menu Options). Staff MUST be notified before entering Vacation Mode. If you are on Vacation for more than 1 month, you will be kicked (Exceptions can be made depending on circumstances). If you go officially Inactive, you will be kicked out of the alliance, as you will become a liability.

3.3. GET THE BEST FROM YOUR TEAM

OLY is there to match you with trade and treaty partners, either in the alliance or among our allies. You should always send alliance-wide messages when you need resources or CTs (Cultural Treaties). We wouldn't want you to slow down your growth because your Museums are not full or because you're missing critical resources you can't get from your towns or from the market.

3.4. GIVE THE BEST TO YOUR TEAM

If you're sitting on massive amounts of resources or gold, then it means that you are not a team player. You should keep your finances tight and optimal, and it means trading whatever is piling up to get whatever you need to grow faster. Filling your warehouse and vault will not profit the alliance and worse yet, it could make you a juicy target. This game is not about becoming a virtual millionnaire.

3.5. PROTECT YOURSELF

Your town defenses should keep up with your general growth and wealth. Having a ridiculously low military score with a large general score (or with a stack of gold) will make you live bait for the predators. Upgrading your defenses is part of a managed growth. We expect you to be able to protect yourself and make wise choices when prioritizing your efforts. If your defenses are reasonable but the enemy is just too powerful, your alliance will be happy to help you.

4. MILITARY Note: OLYa may have a few more restrictions than noted here.

4.1. RESPECT THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT (RoE)

We have published some precise Rules of Engagement (RoE), in order to help you make better decisions in military matters. These rules are also there to help prevent unnecessary wars; we wouldn't want your military actions to throw the whole alliance in a (disastrous) war with another alliance. Read the rules and make sure your understand them. These rules will be periodically updated to reflect the alliance's evolution.

4.2. RESPECT THE RULES FOR PILLAGE (RfP)

Rules for Pillage (RfP) will be posted in a separate document, and are complementary to the Rules of Engagement. We wouldn't want a single "let's see what happens" pillage to degenerate into something ugly and out of hands. As our alliance gets more mature, these rules will be more relaxed and you will be allows to pillage more types of players. We make sure the possible consequences of a pillage gone wrong are not bigger than what our alliance can handle.

4.3. RESPECT THE HIERARCHY

In OLY, we don't boss you around. But there are situations in which there isn't much room left for improvisation. If you get a military request from your Leader or General, you should respect it. For instance, if we explicitly ask you NOT to pillage a certain inactive town. Or if we ask you to send 10 ballista ships to protect a town for a 8-hour shift. If you CAN comply with a military request, then you MUST comply. Otherwise try to do your best, because in times of military conflict we should not let the enemies push us around.

4.4. HELP US DEFEND YOURSELF

This point is related to point 3.5. When your are being attacked, it is your responsibility to communicate with the rest of the team and make sure you give as much detail as possible (coordinates, name, alliance, etc).. Often, our military response will depend on many factors: the resources you are protecting in your town, the size of your defense force, the size and origin of the attack force, the timing of the attack, our relationship with the attacker's alliance, etc.

4.5. ADJUST YOUR EXPECTATIONS

Our military response is dependent on your geographical situation. Please make sure you understand the times and distances involved in sending military help. In some case, we just can't send you troops or relief sulfur in less than 5-6 hours. Have a look at the alliance world map, in order to spot your closest neighbors. Are they a potent military power? If you feel a bit isolated, then it might be a good idea to help us recruit new members in your area. We try to form "regional clusters" and ultimately, a "continuum" so that everybody will have neighbors at a strategic distance.
